Hosting an Oscar the grouch party is not something that many people probably think about hosting. But there are several ways to go about having a successful party with a monster living in the garbage can as your main theme for party games and activities. The question you may be asking yourself is why use that? Well today there are more and more children disconnecte from their emotions and Oscar is one of those characters that children feel they can relate too. The time and place for this kind of party would be a school, grieving support group or other social place. This will allow the kids to partake in different activities that wil help them display what they cant say. You can always go online and find different printable games as well. There are a few different activities, that they can do to create their own Oscar.
Go through and get craft and party supplies: get toilet paper rolls, tape, scissors and crayons and paper. Let the kids draw their own facial expressions on mini sized Oscars and this will give them a chance to show emotion, than cut the Oscars out and tape them to the rolls of toilet paper which are to represent the trash container. Other great games include using trash cans to turn into instruments, which can be another great way for ‘grouchy’ kids to exress themselves through music that they make by beating, kicking or shaking the metal cans. Often times adults do not see what the kids are often times trying to tell us through actions or even more so, what they don’t say out loud.
