Hanukkah is known as the Festival of Lights and an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple, the Second Temple, in Jerusalem. There are party games and activities to celebrate Hanukkah for all to enjoy. For this game, each child chooses a partner and stands opposite to her, so two long lines are formed. Each couple holds a candle between them, as high as they can lift their arms, so as to form an arch. The couple standing at the top of the lines run through the arch without letting go of the candle, and station themselves at the bottom of the lines, raising their candle again to continue the arch. Whoever breaks the arch or drops the candle loses.
The players sit in a circle and begin to count in turn, but when the number 8 or any number in which the figure 8 or any multiple of 8 is reached, they say Buzz, instead of whatever the number is. For example, the players have counted up to 14, the next player will say 15, the next Buzz because 16 is a multiple of 8 (twice 8)—the next player would then say 17 and the next is 18 and therefore a Buzz. The players who forget to say Buzz, are eliminated.
