John Travolta, Studio 54...flashback to the disco era with some great party supplies! Rent a disco light to be used in the center of your party space. Decorate with disco (metallic) helium balloons. Have silhouettes of disco dancers on the walls. If you can locate some, lava lamps are a must. Hang strings of beads in each of the doorways and of course there needs to be peace signs on the ceiling. Use metallic tablecloths and use a mix of bright colorful napkins, plates, cups and plasticware.
To kickoff the disco party activities, ask guests to come dressed in a 70's outfit. Once people arrive in their leisure suits, big gold chains or bell-bottom pants, have a judging contest. Winners receive red glossy lipstick or funky sunglasses. For another activity, play some disco music and each person has thirty seconds to demonstrate his/her best disco move. Be sure to take lots of pictures! In fact, have several disposable cameras on hand and encourage guests to take pictures as well.
Printable games can be a lot of fun at a disco party. Create a matching game of well known 70's TV characters and their real names. Trivia is another great option. Play a game of "scattergories" in which people have to list words pertaining to discos or the 70's, all beginning with the same letter. For party games, act out the different TV characters--Fonzie, Marsha Brady, Vinnie Barbarino, etc.
End the disco party with lots of 70's music. Have a dance off contest or even a lip sync contest! Enjoy reliving the 70's again!
