Party Games for Halloween

Finding good Halloween party games and activities shouldn’t be hard. Why not have a Pumpkin Roll at your party? This makes a great outdoor activity. You’ll need to stockpile a few uncarved pumpkins that are fairly rounded. Then have kids volunteer to join the race. Assign each racer a pumpkin and tell them that at the start of the race they will roll their pumpkin to the end of the course (which you design in length and coming up with obstacles) and back to their original starting positions. Those racers who come in first, second and third place get to keep the pumpkin they raced with.

If you don’t want to save up that many pumpkins just get one pumpkin and carve it out as you would a jack o lantern for the Pumpkin Toss. Have the kid’s line up single file and take turns tossing treats into the pumpkin. Those kids that managed to get their treats in the pumpkin get to retrieve and keep their treats. The best thing about this game is that the kids who don’t get their treat into the pumpkin can line up at the back of the line and wait their turn to try again with a different treats or Halloween party favors. If they have to draw their treats for tossing out of a bag without looking it adds an element of chance to the game.

The last activity could be round robin spooky story. Have the kids sit in a circle after its dark out and give them a flashlight. Start off the round robin with an opening passage of a spooky story then hand off the flashlight to the person to the left and have them continue the story where you left off. When they feel they’ve reached a stopping point they pass off the flashlight again. When the story reaches an end a new story can be started up by the next child. The great thing about this activity is that it can go on indefinitely.

Halloween Mystery Game

There are many Halloween party games sure to be a success, but everyone likes to come up with Halloween party ideas that are special, different, and fun. One party game sure to please mystery lovers, and scavenger hunters alike, is a party game “Who done it” “Mission Possible” mystery. The key to this game working well and being sure to please is the all important step of planning.

It will take more then one person to plan and execute this party game mystery. To begin the party game, the guests arrive to find a “victim” (Stuff a Halloween costume, or use a doll, and add ‘blood’ and injuries to your victim). In the victim’s hand, will be a clue, which will point these amateur sleuths to yet another clue. You can make this as complex, or as simple, as you want, moving throughout your neighborhood (or building)or simply keeping all the clues within your house and/or yard. Guests will divide up into teams, with the hosts being the ‘detectives’ who present the clues, and guide the amateur sleuths in solving the mystery to find out ‘who done it.’

Occasionally, a particular party game participant will be required to act out a scene, or be confronted with evidence against them. They can prove their innocence, dispute the charges against them, or be temporarily jailed; if the other sleuths are convinced the evidence against their fellow partygoer is compelling. There can be jail breaks, and subterfuge according to how your guests react to the prompts you give them. Half the fun is seeing how each guest improvises to cast blame, and convince everyone which person committed the crime.

The real fun of this party game is the imagination of, not just the hosts who orchestrate the mystery, but the sleuths who solve it. One thing is certain, this game is sure to always be a success, and though the ‘who done it’ party game takes effort, imagination, and planning, it is a party that will be enjoyed by all, and is sure to be remembered as the best party game of all!

Halloween Word Scramble Uses

Just like you can use a word find puzzles for many occasions, you can also use Halloween word scramble puzzles. They are fun, easy to make, and many times you can find ready made word scramble puzzles online. With subjects like holidays, nature, and transportation, you can always find an appropriate time or place to use a word scramble puzzle. Here are some ways you can use word scramble puzzles with your kids:

• Practice their spelling or vocabulary list – take all the words your kids need to memorize for the week and scramble them up. As they put them in the right order, they will also be learning how to spell them correctly.

• As a Halloween party game – you can use word scramble puzzles as games in your classroom, at parties, and even just to pass the time. Think of all the thematic words you could come up with for a lesson plan on animals or a Halloween theme party. Now scramble them up, make them into a game, and offer a prize for the first person to complete the page.

• For travel in the car – nothing helps pass the time better than games. When in the car, it is quite difficult to play anything bulky or with numerous pieces. However, with a word scramble puzzle, you can keep your kids busy, having fun, and maybe learning something at the same time!

What is nice about word scramble puzzles is that you can use any words in the dictionary. You can make them as simple or as hard as you like, with as many words as you like, for the grade level you are dealing with. They don’t take a lot of time or effort to make, but they sure are big hits when you put them in front of the kids!

Football Party Games

Don't let the football players on television have all the fun at your next football or Super Bowl party. Plan a few football party games to give your guests something to do during halftime, besides eating more buffalo wings. Stock up on enough fun prizes such as footballs, pennants, drink cups, and team clothing items so that everyone will go home feeling like a winner.

Try one or all of these games at your football party:

Challenge your guests to a football tossing contest. If you can play outdoors, the person who can toss a football the farthest wins. If it needs to be an indoor contest, use a foam football and have your guests toss it through a hula hoop or into a basket. The winner is the guest who can make the target the most times out of five attempts.

Play football charades. Divide your guests into teams and give each team five word cards that you've prepared in advance. Everyone takes turns trying to get their team to guess the football related word that they're acting out. The team that guesses the most words wins. Use a timer to keep the game from running into the next quarter.

Don't say "football" game. At the beginning of halftime, give your guests small paper footballs to stick onto their chests with double-sided tape. Tell everyone they're not allowed to say the word "football" while in conversation during halftime. If a guest hears someone use the word, they can take the football from the offending party. The person who collects the most footballs is the winner.

If you have younger guests at your party, give them a football word find, football word search, or a football word scramble to keep them entertained if they are not interested in the football game.

NFL Trivia for Your Football Party

Football historical facts are fun use at a Super Bowl or NFL football themed party. Take notes and create fun trivia games from the following infomation.

NFL Football is one of the most popular American sports, attracting thousands of participants and millions of spectators annually. The forerunner of American football may have been a game played by the ancient Greeks, called harpaston. In this game there was no limit to the number of players. The object was to move a ball across a goal line by kicking, throwing, or running with it. Classical literature contains detailed accounts of the game, including its rougher elements, such as ferocious tackling.

Most modern versions of football, however, originated in England, where a form of the game was known in the 12th century. In subsequent centuries football became so popular that various English monarchs, including Edward II and Henry VI, forbade the game because it took interest away from the military sport of archery.

In 1920, the American Professional Football Association was formed; one year later it was reorganized and in 1922 was renamed the National Football League. fifty years after the inception of the first pro football association, combined sixteen NFL teams with ten AFL teams to comprise one league with two conferences.

NFL football party supplies like paper plates, napkins, and cups are a nice way to complete a NFL Football Party Theme. Use NFL football party decorations like a football piñata can act as a centerpieces and can also double as party prizes. Party favors like NFL Football stickers, whistles, foam fingers, football shaped caps, and helmets fit an NFL Football Party Theme.

Football Party Games

Its football time again, invite over some friends and have yourself a football theme party . Since most of the game involves sitting and staring at the television screen you can get active for part of the day at your pre-game party. Invite guests over early to play a little game of touch football. This can also be a good game for the kids to play
football party games, especially if their complaining about their television time being taken up by football. It will get your guests active for the period of time before the game comes on and will get them into a competitive mood to watch the football.

Create your own pre-game show to entertain the guests. You can act out a series of the most popular football commercials. People will have fun trying to guess which commercial your skits are from. If you want you can make up your very own football commercial. Try setting up the Karaoke machine at half time and have guests to take turns getting up to sing a few bars.

Place your snacks and party supplies near guests during the game so that you don't have a lot of people getting up and interrupted the game to go gets snacks in the kitchen. Naturally the party will involve beer and other drinks so you may wish to get out the cooler, fill it with ice and set it in the living room. Guests will be able to reach in and grab a drink without bothering anyone. Since there will be alcohol present you should start brewing some coffee towards the end of the game to help guests be more alert on the drive home. You may wish to make the guest room available for the occasional party goers that lives out of town or imbibed a little too much. Have a good party!

Halloween Games for Children

Fall festivities can be more fun than any other time of the year with a little activity planning and organized Halloween party games for kids. The beauty of fall harvest is the perfect backdrop for the festivities that mark the end of summer in some climates and a prelude to winter in others. Halloween is less stressful than the more culturally important holidays and is the perfect time for everyone to just enjoy. In warmer areas with the luxury of a rural environment fall crops provide much of the entertainment. Some may be lucky enough to have a barn to use for apple bobbing and other traditional activities. But a small apartment in the city can still employ the imagination in role playing and costuming. Charades and pin the tale on the donkey can be tailored to Monster charades and pin the bat on the pumpkin in any sized home. Make sure you have plenty of party favors for the kids to take home.

If you do happen to have space outside to play here’s a couple of fun games you can set up for kids to check out. The pumpkin, an ever present sign of the Halloween season are used predominantly in both games. The pumpkin toss isn’t exactly what it sounds like. Basically you would carve out a pumpkin as you do for any other jack-o-lantern except don’t put a candle in it. At the party kids can take turns trying to toss a treat from the goody bag into the pumpkin. When they get their treats in they get to eat them and another child can take his or her turn. Another good game is the pumpkin roll; this is what it sounds like. The kids are each assigned a pumpkin and they must roll them in a race from the start to finish lines. The first ones to get their pumpkins to the finish line are the winners.

If the prospect of cleaning up vegetable matter is unappealing then perhaps traditional beanbags can be tossed. The pumpkin roll could simply be a beach ball roll. Maybe dropping the clothes pin in the bottle would make a quicker clean up than apple bobbing. When that’s the choice then simply decorate with harvest items and Halloween decorations

Oktoberfest Party Games

Oktoberfest began with a royal Bavarian wedding in 1810 where the groom, king Ludwig I, wanted to celebrate his marriage to Maria Teresa of Saxonia by proclaiming a state fair, in Munich. You can recreate this event with an Oktoberfest party.

For your Oktoberfest party, here is a game idea that can be altered to fit the Oktoberfest party theme.

MUMMY WRAPPING CONTEST: Five (5) couples to participate, whereby the girl will be wrapped-up by the guy into a mummy using toilet rolls. Once wrapped, the five guys will race (or rather move very slowly) to a finishing line, without undoing the toilet papers.

Bridal Shower Games

Those looking for some easy to put together bridal shower games can very easily find printable bridal shower games on the web. You may say, ‘what’s so fun about a print out?’, but many game creators are very clever in the creation of their games and come up with really fun ideas.

You can find complete bridal shower board games that can be customized and printed out or even very simple word scrambles, word finds and word searches. The last three are probably the most commonly found printable games and can usually be found on the web for free.

The more involved games come at a cost but it is usually nominal, a few dollars at the most and you have a unique game to keep the guests entertained. The best board games to be found are usually question and answer games, where the guests partner up and try to answer questions about the couple or each other for points or spaces on the printed out board. Many games are able to be customized so that you can enter specific questions about guests or the expectant parents to print out.

When you do decide to purchase a printable bridal shower game make sure to have the proper paper in your printer. A good cardstock will look more professional to your guests. Do be sure to pay extra attention to the printing instructions, some printable games will print on both sides of the paper and you don’t want to waste a lot of paper trying get your print out right.

Another important thing to remember is making sure that you have enough ink in your printer. This includes color and black depending on what kind of game you decide to print out. Allow the print out enough time to dry before picking it up, some games will use a lot of ink and it may still be damp when it's done printing.

Great Halloween Games

Halloween is a favorite holiday for kids. They love being able to dress in Halloween costumes, carve pumpkins and attend a party. A Halloween party idea for school age kids includes playing fun games. I have listed several fun Halloween party games that you can play either at a school or home party.

The mummy wrap game calls for teams of four kids. One will become the mummy and the other three will wrap him or her in toilet paper. This is a timed game, so a loud kitchen timer works great. Give each team several rolls of toilet paper; set the timer for a couple of minutes and say GO. When the timer rings or you stay STOP, the team with the mummy who is wrapped the most is the winner.

Set up a miniature golf game either indoors or outdoors. You can use an empty tin can for the hole. It is a lot of fun if you can obtain large plastic bones for the clubs and draw an eye on a plastic golf ball. See who can make a hole in one.

Another physical activity is a monster tag and capture game. You’ll need an area about the size of a volleyball court. The kids stand at one end of the line. One player, Frankenstein Monster, stands about six feet in front of the group (facing the same direction). The monster walks forward with the group following calling out Frankenstein are you alive? The monster stops, turns and points to one child saying who are you? The child may answer any Halloween creature (rat, bat, pumpkin, ghost, goblin black cat, etc.).

The monster than turns and the group continues to follow asking the same question. At any time a child answering the monster may say they are Frankenstein, the monster then chases the group back to the starting line. Establish a finish line, and someone needs to say Frankenstein before the monster reaches this line. Anyone tagged or caught by the monster goes to the centerline, and the game is repeated. The last players caught are the winners.

Another Halloween party idea is to have a Freeze Dance. Play Halloween songs like the Monster Mash, Purple People Eater, or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes to play this game with. Have a dance contest with the winners being who can dance the silliest, slowest, fastest, etc.
